A wet and misty morning, with Eigg seldom visible. After a while the weather improved and we left, following 2 other boats down the winding channel. We had rather a slow beat to Eigg, with 1 reef which was not always necessary and had lunch on the way. We anchored near the ferry pier, went ashore and walked to the nearby caves. These are Macdonalds Cave and St Francis cave. The first is enormous and called Cathedral Cave, the second smaller but goes a long way into the island and is named “Massacre Cave” after that popular ancient clan pastime.
After supper we moved into the drying part of the harbour, which is very sheltered. The fridge has packed up again. It appears that the coolant has leaked out again, so there must be a leak somewhere - an unwelcome winter job looms. At least it means the battery will last longer.
3 other boats seem to be residents here. We are the only visitor. We have 3G access so I can update the blog!
