Monday 12 September 2011 - Tobermory: Katia arrives

Poor visibility and continuous light rain all morning. Inshore waters forecast: S6-8 veering SW7-9 occasionally 10. However there was no wind to speak of here until mid afternoon when some gusts started, so it appears we are in a sheltered place.

Spent the morning in the museum with a lot of other people keeping out of the rain.

High water just before 7pm was well above prediction. All the doorways along the sea front had been equipped with sandbags, which were not needed this time.  We have had some gusty wind on the pontoons - enough to make us walk with care and keep checking moorings and fenders but not enough to be uncomfortable or prevent sleep - so it's very sheltered for this wind direction.

It seems that the wind and rain will stay with us tomorrow, so we are not likely to move until Wednesday at the earliest.
