At last a bit of a lie in – alarm at 7 am – after a late night. With going against the general direction of the flood tide, we are against an earlier tide each day, but the tide moves on about 1 hour each day, so in practice the local high tide is the same time each day. Anyway both Sunderland and our likely destination of Blyth are all-tide, so we can leave a bit late.

| Approaching Amble marina |
The day was unusually cold and grey, completely different from yesterday, but the wind seemed reasonable so we left in light rain at about 10:30. We found our reef was not necessary and that the wind and waves were less than yesterday. After a while we realised that it would not take long to get to Blyth we had time to get to Amble, which is a more attractive destination.
Arriving in Amble, the temperature inside the boat was still only 11.5c
